I uploaded photos. Also I just want to say I've tried the usual off whites. White dove looks like a chalky pink gray mess, cloud white might work but looks too white I think, swiss coffee is a weird green /yellow neon color at night and gray during the day In the hall ways. I started with that one.

Have you tried Simply White? It edges yellow in my south-facing living room but is a warmish white in my north-facing kitchen. Cotton Balls is another one worth looking at. A little deeper-toned than Simply White. I have it in an upstairs hallway that has no windows. It's white but warm where it's hit by the west-facing light from an adjacent room, and creamy in the corners that get no direct light at all. Never seems to shift to anything weird.

I used simply white in my other house and it just appeared really white and I am afraid it might be too white here since the lrv is so much higher then the ones I have been sampling. Worth a try I guess. I am having paint paralysis. haha!

I have BM Soft Chamois in my foyer which has low light most of the day, and in two north-facing bedrooms. It's an off white, but if you're not liking White Dove or Swiss Coffee, maybe you need something with a little more body to stand up in the low light conditions. Simply White is a BM white with more yellow than White Dove. You need yellow to warm up northern light. I used Timid White in my basement, but that has even more yellow than Simply White and might be too yellow for you. Also maybe look at Linen White, another popular warm white.

Sorry I was editing as you posted--see above on Cotton Balls. Definitely sample in your new house. The LRV difference might be a plus for you. I think you want the color in your entry to be clearly different from the adjacent rooms. Will look more intentional. Having multiple rooms in view of each other that have off-whites in the same LRV but different color families might be pretty jarring.

I think your white trim is throwing you off.

Are you keeping the same white trim in all the rooms?

My suggestion for the entryway is the same white that you have for your trim, Flat ceiling and eggshell walls.

Hi Lyn. Thanks for your suggestion. I have no idea what the white trim color is as we just bought this house and someone else chose that. But yes I guess looking at all these colors the wall color and trim are throwing me off. I was thinking of just painting the trim same color as walls but different Sheen. Too difficult to figure out a trim color too. Gahhh.

Kandrewspa I have thought about soft chamois but haven't gotten a sample. Might try that one. Do you have pics of how it looks in your space?

Too many angles in your foyer to expect picture frame molding to be successful IMO. I think you'd have a more successful foyer if you created a board and batten wainscotting that could visually cut the height of the foyer.

Thanks Beverly. I am stopping it at the base of that window putting a chair rail there all the way atound. I am stuck on the paint color though so I can't move forward on any of this until I get that figured out. That is my main question.

Before painting I would check your lighting and get that updated/upgraded first.

Figure out what it is? 2700K (warm) or all the way to 5000K (commercial/cold)?

Change bulbs/fixtures as necessary.

I like 3500K (Kelvin) and plenty of Lumens. Use dimmers when you want less light.

I have BM Chantilly Lace trim/doors/crown throughout the house and mostly BM White Dove walls.

I would say that BM Simply White sits somewhere between these two colors.

Here is BM Chantilly Lace trim and on the wall (while I was re-painting) BM White Dove on right and BM Winds Breath on left. I found the BM Winds Breath too dark for the look I wanted.

if it were me and I had that type of indirect light coming in, I would want something warmer with a bit more color & would probably try a pale beige, love Farrow & Ball Shaded White
