How often do you want the ability to have family & guests sitting at a table to eat & be in a conversational setting - instead of lined up at a lunch counter? Don’t misunderstand me - I do love my island with counter seating for 4. But, I also have my dining area table with nice seating for 6 or 8. And, we use that table so I can’t imagine not having it.

Can you show more of the floorplan? Locating the cooktop/range on the island is avoided in many designs. Whenever I see a double sink on plans, I know the designer is not serious about current kitchen layout. A frig in a box by itself also is novel.

Seating for eating only at an island is very limiting. Is there another nearby area that could be repurposed for a dining table?

I don't see where you fit another small table in that plan?

Do you have a breakfast area in the kitchen and a separate dining room or is the space in that floor plan the only space in the house for a table?

Maybe some photos of the current space would help.

I would consult a different designer. It will be worth it to get a fresh perspective.

Get an actual KD and now before you really regret this isdea. I love a stool for a short snack but for sure not a nice meal with friends. I have no idea what the plan is actually showing I need a to scale floor plan of the kitchen and DR as it is is now All windows , doorways where those lead , marked Every meausrement clearly marked and the plumbing if it can't be moved the mark it with an X The plan you show is not helpful

Is there a dining room in the latest plan or is the only eating area at the island?

There will be a little bit of an eating area across from the closet. It is desginated on the plan. It's small but it's currently where we eat and we just push up a rectangular table against the wall. We don't use our current dining area at all.
