Cornus Canadensis

How dense is the root growth of Cornus Canadensis? I purchased several one gallon pots and the pots are very dense with roots. That could be because they've been grown too long in the pots. I plan to plant these in a large bed along with hosta, podophyla, trillium, cardiocrinum and epimedium. I am concerned I will become the protector of these other plants if the cornus doesn't play nice.

It plays very well with others. In fact, sometimes it refuses to play at all and simply peters out. Can be difficult to establish but easily restrained if that does happen..

Exactly what I was hoping to hear. When I read it has nice green foliage, lovely white flowers and red berries and likes shade I thought it was a good choice. And I've read it can be difficult or rather finicky about location. This spot gets morning sun, afternoon shade. Hopefully it likes it.
