That's looks about half the distance mine is. What do you plan to do with that mantle. If the TV is going above I would assume no much. Stocking at Christmas might be considered. Is it wood or gas? The amount of heat makes a difference in your plans. Given your plans I would suggest go ultra modern and forget the mantle.

I won't be doing anuything with the mantle. When you say half the distacne of yours what do you mean?

first you need to find out what the clearance needs to be from the firebox.(Mfg. regulations)

Generally a TV is mounted eye level centered on TV when seated usually 41 to 45 " off the floor. Get a smaller mantle and mount the TV to the left of the firebox.

Mine is 25" above the firebox. Yours looks about 12 in pictures. I will re-suggest you go w/o a mantle.

I’m a short person (5’2”) and there would be no way I would put my tv above the mantel you’ve pictured. Way too high for my neck.

Our mantel is a bit lower than the picture you have. We have a frame TV over ours. It's fine... Too high of course but it isn't our only TV area.

In your space I would put the TV to the left of the fireplace, not over it, and put art over the fireplace.

thank you! i just found a mantle mount and it has the tv drop down so that is what ill do i think. i can't put the tv to the left bc we wont be able to see it from the sofa.

No one says you have to arrange your furniture like the model home. I actually wouldn't if it were my home. But if you want your TV over the fireplace, mantel mounts are another option.

I put a TV above my fireplace a while back, and yeah, if the mantle's too high, it can be a pain to watch comfortably. In my setup, I made sure the TV's center was about eye level when sitting, roughly 40-42 inches from the floor to the middle of the screen. Felt way better than craning my neck up. I'd tell your builder to mock up a cardboard cutout at different heights before drilling anything. Also, consider a tilting wall mount; it helped me get the angle just right.

We actually do have to di the same as the model home. they willl only wire it this way.

Then you will need to move the sofa back to avoid neck strain. What are the room dimensions?

You may not be able to put a wood mantel any lower than what is in your picture. The owner's manual for the fireplace will tell you how far a wood mantel must be.

If you want it lower, I suggest you consider a non-combustible insulated steel mantel that can handle the heat and help protect your TV:
