Here's some of tile I've been drawn to...

I am not sure how to spell it, but I used a tumbled marble in botticino. I did a diagonal square with little granite inserts throughout.

I like the third one because it blends in enough with your cabinets and your granite is the statement piece. Too much competition would have your eye playing tricks and not focusing on what it wants to see.

I like the first backsplash .. that will look very nice.

Personally, I would go with a glass subway tile ... easy to keep clean.

I think didiromero, you have some really great options - anyone of these shown will be great. With your countertop, I would go for the first one.

I personally like the 3rd one because it gives you texture and depth without a lot of color to compete with the granite and cabinetry.

The first one is nice, but I it looks like something difficult to clean (it seems to be non-glossy). I would do a cream glass. It would pick up from your counter top without competing with it.

I think #3 looks best with your granite. Number 1 would be a grease and dust catcher, and I think #2 competes with the granite and looks too busy.

Transinterior is right. Go for the backsplash that has some of your granite color in it. Look at your second example, the granite with the dark cream stone.

Very nice kitchen, but those cabinets are screaming out for a caramel glaze and some flattering tile to key in the granite.

I believe #3 would work best for the same reasons as calidesign. It makes no sense to me to spend all that time and money on choosing a beautiful stone and put up a tile that fights for the attention. I think #3 is a lovely tile that compliments the stone.

I agree with TravisInteriors and think that having a backsplash that is almost the same color as the cabinets is really boring, A solid-colored travertine that picks up a darker color in the granite is not busy, and is not competing with the granite. Therefore I would choose option 2 which is the tile showing the most contrast with the cabinets.
