Wow, that is a perfect first bloom and looks to have plenty of buds yet to open.. Pretty rose blooms too.I like roses but hate the thorns.

What a nice first bloom - great color, flat opening, and lovely ruffled edge! The roses are gorgeous! The only thing I have blooming this week is rhubarb and a couple of daffodils that still have flowers.

Thank you Julia. I, too, love the roses, and some have monster thorns. I am not allowing that massive rose bush to regrow into a giant again. It is trying to do so but the thorns are truly too much. I am allowing a few branches to regrow but not like last time.

I agree-an almost perfect first bloom! Our latest heat may have helped that! Love the roses! My roses are beginning to bloom and scapes are coming up all over!!

Although the heat is accelerating your scapes, it will make for more perfect first blooms. No scapes here. No scapes here yet. I guess they will start coming by the middle of May.

Thank you Nancy, Kate, and Debra. I was very pleased with the first bloom, and indeed Kate there are scapes everywhere here too. Kate, the rains we finally got have been very helpful.

Nancy, The roses and the Clematis especially have been blooming really well.

We have had an awful lot of early heat and Debra, you may be right about making love;y first blooms. I guess you will just have to wait to see when the scapes will begin in your neww home area,
