Master bedroom(below image)

Living room(below image)

I was searching SW paint colors and came to Drift of Mist and Sea Salt or Mountain Air and Lullaby.

FYI - 2 windows in the living room facing West, patio door and kitchen window facing East. Master bedroom 2 windows facing West. Other 2 bedrooms facing East. One bathroom in the living room, other 2 upstairs and none of them windows. Base board is kind of beige with wood light finish throughout the place, however there is some damage, so in living room it will be replaced with white one. All other places base board, door trims will remain.

Here are my ideas:

- Drift of Mist in Living room walls and ceiling, including upstairs hallway. Then use Sea Salt on kitchen wall(ceiling will be Drift of Mist as living room). Sea Salt also in bedrooms and bathrooms(walls and ceiling). I could also use Drift of Mist in bedrooms and bathroom ceiling if I get a recommendation.

- Same set up as above but this time with Mountain Air and Lullaby.

I just can't pick which of the pair colors to go with.

Wow this seems to be a more complicated process than I already went through(choosing colors).

From your input, I would say Drift of Mist and Sea Salt might work better if I keep door trim, flooring(mainly tiles) and countertops.

    Here is more info:

Kitchen cabinets are white, no need to replace them yet. Kitchen and 1.5 bath have same floor tiles. Other 2 bathrooms have vinyl flooring and white tiles on counters/walls as in the Kitchen.

Below photo is to show vinyl floor and baseboard color(toilet will be replaced).

Entrance, notice the same/similar tile floors as in the kitchen and 1.5 bath and door frame color.

Below photo is to show door trim color and pattern. The same trim will be throughout bedrooms, hallway upstairs.

The carper might stay temporality for a few years. Hope this color will be more forgiving when baseboard in the living room will be replaced with white one and door trims kept which have a "wood like" appearance.

It is just something you haven't done before.

You obviously have some sense of color because you picked very nice color combinations that work really well as wall colors. Many people go really bright with their first time picking wall colors and don't realize how much color there is once you paint 100 square feet of color on a wall. You didn't do that.

Before making a final choice I would get a sample of Drift Of Mist and Sea Salt.

While you are ordering I would add in samples of City Loft and Shoji White.

They will all look beautiful with Sea Salt, but what neutral is going to go best with your flooring and trim is the question you need to answer.

    I order samples from Samplize.com

Jennifer, I appreciate your advice and examples you have provided.

I believe Drift of Mist(DoM) would look pretty balanced throughout the place. I initially wanted to paint Sea Salt in the bedrooms as well, however we won't be replacing door trims any time soon and baseboards in these rooms which are light wood/being color, will stay as well for now.

So, painting living room(walls, ceiling), bedrooms(walls, ceiling) with Drift of Mist to get more uniform look. As for the Sea Salt, it will be on kitchen and 1.5 bathroom walls (DoM on ceiling) as these are on the same floor as living room. Other upstairs bathrooms will see Sea Salt throughout as this color looks good with white baseboard and fixtures. Hope Drift of Mist would be happy with white baseboards in the living room, which is the only exception.

To make sure, I will ask painters to paint living room, kitchen walls and half bath on the same floor, to see if I like it. Then continue to paint upstairs.

Have you ever gone shopping and found a shirt that you knew was going to go perfectly with a pair of pants you already owned only to find out when you got it home that the two pieces didn't actually work together?

I am trying to save you from buying a really expensive, non-returnable shirt. Always get a large sample before buying a gallon of paint, much less multiple gallons.

I don't understand why you are hesitant about painting the bedrooms Sea Salt.

I would think that it would be better to have at least one bedroom with sea salt so that the bathroom wasn't the only room on the second story with color. I might go further and paint the bedrooms one shade darker (comfort gray)

    Hey,

I went to the store today and grabbed a few "peel and stick" paint sheets. I have switched Drift of Mist for Accessible Beige.

So this color will be used in the living room, kitchen and hallway upstairs. Bedrooms and bathrooms will be painted Sea Salt. Beige matched the place better and was warm and felt/looked in-tune with aforementioned places. Sea Salt had a calming effect for a bedroom and bathroom. Additionally, moving from room to room with warm and cool tones is refreshing.

    Thank you again!
