True Bloom True Spirit

last year
last modified: last year

I wish I could post a photo of the two gallon size True Bloom True Spirit that I just planted yesterday. Half of the eight buds are blooming now and as much as I ordinarily do not like red roses, this one is a winner. The largest bloom is indeed 4.5" as HMFR states. It is indeed a hybrid tea also, with mostly one bloom per stem.

The flower form is classic hybrid tea, no cupping or quartering with ruffled petals, no flatness but good bloom depth, very little quilling, and of an intense red color. The petal count by my calculation is about 35-40. The boom is high centered and opens fully with no pancake flatness. Some yellow stamens show when fully open, but most blooms hide their stamens. The bloom's center petals are neat and tidy, not gnarly.

Ping Lim hit one out of the park with this rose. I have not been so excited about a rose like I am about this one in a long time. If it proves to be black spot resistant (hard to believe so since its seed parent is Crimson Glory!), it will make a tremendous addition to my rose garden and possibly yours. Thank you, Ping Lim!

Moses.
