White kitchen cabinet color with Snowbound walls

last month

Hi, I’m renovating my kitchen and I need help finding a white paint color for my cabinets. My walls (which extend to the rest of my living space) are Sherwin Williams snowbound. I’d like something slightly warmer than snowbound. Perhaps Eider white? Does anyone have any pics of their kitchen with this combination or something else that is light and airy, but not stark white. Thank you!

I wouldnt mix the whites. It doesnt always work out well. I would use the snowbound on the cabinets too.

I wouldn't paint your cabinets warmer than the walls as they're likely to look dingy in comparison. All Snowbound is your best bet in this instance - eggshell on the walls and satin on the cabinets will differentiate them enough. When you are so light on the walls, you need to go significantly different on the cabinets if you don't want to do the same color - like SW Natural Choice or some other putty/light sand color.

In my last house I had Snowbound walls and Snowbound kitchen cabinets, but the kitchen was not entirely open plan so I was able to paint the walls in there a cream to differentiate from the cabinets, and that worked. I wouldn't do it the other way around for the reason I mentioned.

Thanks for the advice! If I paint the walls Snowbound, what quartzite do you recommend for the counters? Would Taj Mahal Look ok?

Minardi: "You need to start with a whole lot warmer walls."

The wall color, Snowbound, is a given as it has been used throughout her living space as she explained.

The SW Snowbound webpage lists Colonnade Gray as a Coordinating Color. How about using that for the cabinets? Or one of the slightly darker paints listed at the top of the Colonnade Gray webpage?

Thank you so much for your input — I really appreciate it!

I really would like to use Taj Mahal quartzite, so I guess I need to find a warmer white for my walls. Any opinions on BM White Dove with Taj Mahal?

I really want to use white for my walls. Do you recommend that I also do cabinets in white dove?

I’ve seen examples online of pale oak walls and white dove cabinets — and while I like the combo, I don’t want to do Pale Oak for my entire living space. I wonder if switching it and doing Pale Oak on the cabinets and white dove on the wall would look ok? Do you think White Dove walls is sufficiently different from something like Pale Oak or Natural cream to be able to use those on cabinets without them looking dingy?

    Thanks again!

I should add that my kitchen is east facing and gets lots of light.

"I really would like to use Taj Mahal quartzite"

You won't believe how many articles and Houzz discussions are on the subject of Taj Mahal countertops and paint.

    etc. etc. etc.

Nice links ^^^^…AND bring those white paint samples with you when looking at slabs in real life.

But backing up - what is your floor selection. That pairing with your counter top is key and decided first.

Hi! Our floors will be this porcelain wood-look tile.

Yellow floor tile, greenish countertops, and pinkish trim, is not going to be successfully paired. You need to hire a designer immediately. Immediately.

Bring the floor tile with you when looking at slabs. Bring lots of white paints too. I do agree w Minardi that you need to rethink the Combo - so be open to other slabs if you are set on the floor or be open to another floor if you are set on the Taj. Don’t settle on a paint until you know you have a great floor/counter combo.
