right now there is huge contrast between two flooring materials......explain if one or the other flooring will be the end result. It does have an impact. if the light flooring will be the result I''d like contrast w a darker stained island but maple doesnt stain too well. what species is the island?? then a creamy white for the wall cabinetry would work. the hood will be an element...do you have a plan for the hood?

What is going on with the flooring?

Your kitchen is open to another room. They need to relate to each other. What do they look like?

How often do you plan to chase the trends and switch your kitchen up? If you are going for a lasting look all wood or white would be my suggestions. The color fad is very alluring when done right but even so will be short lived. Putting color on the island with white or wood the rest of the kitchen seems like a fair compromise if you just have to follow the trends.

What is the lighting plan for the kitchen? Doesn't look like there's much at this point. Lighting will impact color selection, and the two different flooring colors need to be considered in the cabinetry color decision.

Why are the cabinets not already finished, in a shop, with actual quality industrial cabinet finishes? A Custom Cabinet Maker controls the build, finish, and install, of all the cabinets. A halfass woodworker is what is on display there. No "cabinet maker" should ever push off half the job to someone else who isn't competent to do it. Or let anyone use low level trim paint and minwax junk on anything.

But a professionally color matched industrial wood coating like Renner, Ilva, Icro, Milesi, Envirolak, etc. in Alabaster, and zero stain, just an Envirolak 900 series clear is what is needed there. With all matching floors.

Is the wall color a final? For me, Staining the island a darker tone than the floor, so there is a contrast. Have you chosen appliances? Stainless? Black?

I would choose a soft color for the painted cabinets, the Taj Mahal sounds great!

Is that a wood look tile floor or just an unfinished wood floor? That will make a difference in what to stain the island, so does the wood specie. For the main cabinets, I would do an off white that will blend with the tones of the taj mahal - do you have a piece of it? Personally, I would stain the hood to match the island but it looks like it was wedged in the space so I'm not sure how that is going to happen. Can it be easily taken down?

I am quite surprised that all the doors are on the cabinets since the finishing isn't even done yet. They now have to all be removed again.

Floor looks like tile to me. What color are the walls? Ceiling?

I don't know, with that floor so close but such a different color it might be tricky. I might try to match the stain of the floor. Anything else might compete with the wood floor.

Cabinets I would go white - one that coordinates with whatever color you have on the wall & ceiling.

I also find it strange that the doors are all installed already.

Check your range specs - it looks like you do not have appropriate clearances on the left side with that cabinet to the counter. If you have a gas range that is absolutely not OK. Maybe it's different with induction, but either way you should have some space between the range & a vertical obstruction.

I would go with a dark walnut with undertones similar to the wood flooring in the adjacent room to tie the look together.

The floor is clearly tile upon which the cabinets and island are placed.

Like the adjacent cabinet panels, the material used for the hood was not chosen to be stained. (However you made a good point of how it's wedged in there which will make even painting difficult.)

Good point. Even the basic LG LSIL6334 induction range requires a minimum of 15" between the countertop and cabinet on both sides of the range.
