Do you need a TV in here?

How many people do you want to seat? Do you want conversation?

Do you want a coffee table?

What activities will happen in here?

How will you use it at different times of day?

Is the wall on the left a solid wall and can anything be placed on it or is part of it a sliding wall that needs to open?

Please show pics of the rest of the space. We don't have enough info to go on here.

CONTEXT please, a floor plan to scale and all the questions asked answered . What does the window face ? The plan should show the whole living space .

Define your needs, does it have to be multifunctional/and how. Use a measuring tape and place masking tape on floor to get a better sense of placement/what’s possible. Use the length (?) to its advantage.

One idea, but without a chaise and the cabinet would be on the far wall.

The other wall has about 7 feet to use but the opposite wall with the window is longer. It would be used for one person to watch tv and eat. I have attached the floor plan but the layout they have is deceiving because there is not room for a table and the tv would be right in your face.

I HATE the floor plan they created. Your back is to the view. I assume you'd actually like to see this floor to ceiling view (of Chicago?). Or do you not care about the view?

Agree with Mrs. Pete. You can place the couch and TV to create a space in the elongated room.

The windows are the focal point and should not have any obstructions.

Keep sliding section of wall to bedroom closed all the way all of the time.

84" sofa - don't chop up this space with a small sofa. You'll probably have your laptop and other things thrown on the sofa with you. You can have someone over if you want and have seating for two. Let's assume another apartment in your future could be larger and you'll be able to reuse the sofa.

Skinny end C table to the right of sofa that you can pull out as a TV dinner table or to have a drink right next to you.

Mount TV with swing arm on the short wall. Angle it into the space when you are watching. Push it back when you are not. I have a studio apartment where we do this. It is a fantastic use of small space.

Toss a pouf or two against the window and pull up to put your feet on or as another place to toss your laptop.

The cheapskate developer didn't add ceiling lights. Get a chrome arch lamp to place in the corner of the room where the TV and sofa wall meet.

Kendra, that would be a good idea but that wall has cement behind it and I can’t hang a tv from it

Put the sofa on that 6.5 ft wall. Don't get a huge TV and then place it on a rolling easel stand. Move to the middle of the room facing the sofa when you want to watch TV or up against the sliding wall when you want it out of the way.

They probably got you to pay more for this "one bedroom"! The space available might have been better used as a studio. The floor plan with furniture is a joke ... I hope you didn't rent this sight unseen and only found out when you got there that no real furniture would fit.

My idea is similar to chispa. Is there room to put a freestanding cabinet/counter that you could mount a tv to the back?

It is my daughter’s first apartment, she was gifted this couch … it is 84 x 37 we were hoping it would fit but it sure takes up a lot of room

I think I would put the sofa on the inside wall facing the windows. Then, the TV on a corner cabinet in the window corner opposite the kitchen. That way, you can see the TV from the couch, from reclining on the couch and also from the kitchen and dining table if you use one.

Get a smallish TV. There is no need for a huge TV in a small space.

Is this a rental or condo? You can certainly still mount a TV with arm on a concrete wall. I have done it. But, if it is a rental, they probably won't let you.

How old is your daughter and does she really watch TV? Most younger people I know just watch on their laptops.

It is a nice sofa. I'd surely use it along the long wall adjacent to the bedroom. Yes, it takes up a lot of space, but anything in here is going to because it is a small space. I prefer one larger piece of furniture to a bunch of small chopped up stuff.

I wouldn't overthink it . Life will be new and fun for her and she can enjoy the city life.

I would put the sofa , back to the bedroom and put a smaller tv on a corner cabinet. Make sure any ottomans or coffee tables have storage in them. If you can have the couch off the side wall by 12 " or so, she could stand a bookcase on that wall as well. A small bistro table would be great for the kitchen area. With those great windows, I'd get some plants.

Tape out the measurements of the sofa on the floor. Then see how much room is left to execute @Debbi Washburn 's layout and how much distance she can get from where she'd sit to a TV screen.
