Boring and annoying?

last month

Can making a quilt top be boring and annoying at the same time? Yes!

I got a kit for Snowflake Lane at a show a couple of years ago. I really liked the sample in the booth, done in two shades of aqua and white.

I got it out a few weeks ago, and the first thing I found out is it needs a specialty ruler, 60 deg diamond mini. I debated whether to just put the fabric in my stash or buy the $25 ruler. Finally decided to get the ruler.

Now that I’m making it, I find only three colors is really boring. My vision issues make cutting with a ruler like the diamond one challenging. Trimming off a zillion points and pressing seams open is the annoying part.

The snowflakes are done and yesterday I cut all the pieces for the background so I’ll start assembling it today. Right now I can’t wait for this top to be finished!

I do want to say that Krista Moser’s pattern is extremely well-written, with excellent photos and diagrams. She very explicitly details each step, and the wall quilt size instructions are in red so it ’s very easy to make sure you are following the correct size.
