Mixing Marble and Quartz , would you do it?

I found this beautiful slab of Calacatta Gold marble and I am considering :

Island : Calacatta Gold Marble
Perimeter Countertops : White Quartz
Backslash: subway tile size marble

Would it look ok to mix a plain white quartz with all that marble?

I would not. There's nothing wrong with quartz, but putting marble alongside the quartz will only accentuate the fact that the quartz is not the real thing -- it'll kinda look like you cheaped out. Either do all quartz or all marble.

Of course it can be done. Lots of examples on Houzz photos.

You just need to get your "whites" to complement each other.

Here is one. The designer says:

"The countertops on the island are marble (Calacutta Oro) with a 1 3/4" mitered edge detail and a waterfall edge. The perimeter countertops are Caeserstone, a quartz product, with a 3/4" edge."

No different than doing a black honed granite on the perimeter and a polished quartzite on the island. You can replace the granite with quartz and 98% of people would have no idea there was a difference.
