Isn't it funny to suddenly find clumps for first blooms? There are some lovely ones in this post; Skater, of course, Diamond Shores also. Pretty purples. Reds always speak to me so I like Scarlet Marvel. Nice colors in this post, and Who Would Be Queen is a very pretty color.

Very good blooms for FFO--you must have good weather. Any ideas of what the parentage of the bee pollen bloom might be. I agree that it is a striking color. All are nice; Who Would Be Queen especially caught my attention (a Douglas that probably is not northern friendly).

Wow, you are bursting with blooms. Skater is one that shows very good with the cascade of blooms.

Kay, you are so right-having clump shots this early is not usual. While they are pretty, it just means the clump will bloom out faster!!

Mantis, good weather.. hmmm…we have had storms for weeks, some quite dangerous and many quite damaging. However, between those storms we have had 80+ degree heat. So, the combination of lots of rain and lots of heat has contributed to lots of bloom openings and for the most part, good openings of buds.

I have no clue of the bee pollen parentage. I did go back and find my first discovery photo from seven years ago. At one time I knew the name of the cultivar it was growing in but that was many brain cells ago. I tagged it, dug up the plant, and pulled that fan out. Seven years later, two fans and two scapes every year. However, it remains a keeper.

Your bee pollen bloom is my top favorite! What a purple! Who Would Be Queen is my kind of daylily. I do love that color! The Skater clump is marvelous. Although I really loved Skater, I didn't bring it with me since it's evergreen. The evergreen Hansens I did bring - Blazing Saddles, Absolute Ripper and Yoga Man struggled with the Indiana winter. They are still alive, but all three lost fans, and the fans they are showing are skimpy compared to what they were in Nashville. I brought those three because I know others who grow them successfully in the North.

Diamond Shores is my favorite today, love that fat edge? and pale throat. I would keep the bee seedling too, it is a beauty!

I too like that bee pollen one a lot! Diamond Shores, Supergirl, Bluebird Sky [can't wait to see an unsplotchy one] and Coach's Magic Man are all also quite pretty!

Golly some pretty ones here. I like Skater and Pansy Face Charmer. I like Who Would be Queen very much too. My kind of pink. A Houston friend of mine showed me his a week ago or so and it looked as pretty as yours, so it seems to be consistent. However, it did fade as the day heated up in the PM.........I think my appreciation goes most to your Bee Pollen one. To think how much effort hybridizers go through to achieve what mother nature can do on a whim. Humbling sometimes.............Maryl
