Have to say it ... don't love your color. A bit drab, unless you are going to tie it to a new bold patterned rug with that color in it.

Did you test the velvet with some water? Years ago I used an expensive Schumacher velvet on dining chairs and they got ruined when my son spilled some plain water on them. Eight chairs had to be reupholstered after that, covered by the designer who didn't give me family friendly fabric!

Yes, I tested with water and no changes. I plan to change the rug.

I’ve never ordered extra, but there’s always extra leftover and my upholstererer gives it to me. But it’s really your choice. What do you think the probability is of having to replace the fabric? And how many chairs? Perhaps you might consider using an indoor/outdoor performance fabric?

I have never ordered extra. I have twice had my chairs fully recovered. My fabrics are not particularly stain resistant and still I have only needed to recover them when they are warn out and it was time for all of them to be recovered.

I know you didn't ask, but I will say your color selection is a bit sad for those chairs. I remember your chairs and your previous posting. I know the rug will change, but I just don't love it with the wood of your chairs, unless you are going for an early 90s look.

This is the colour combination I am going for. I knew I wanted something light and neutral, and no pattern. I was not going to choose from the grey palette...that looked drab to me.

So sad to do beige on those chairs IMO a new rug would have been better . As for the extra fabric I guess how often have you had the need for this with the old cover? IMO if a kid is using the chair then use a towel Velvet to me is not na ideal fabric for dining chairs but I entertain a lot so do not want to have to worry .

There are some really nice faux leathers with some texture in your colorway--they are easy to care for and would add a bit of interest:

The spills/accidents will probably occur on the seat portion of the chair vs the seat back. My point is that you won’t ever need the ENTIRE chair recovered unless your family has food fights! An additional 3 yards will be $$.

I always suggest a client order a little extra, and depends the chair style. Your chairs, if the back of back is also upholstery take no more than two yards for a single chair.

He could also be giving himself a little cushion if a flaw somewhere in the middle of a bolt.

Do you have to do this ? No!!

PS, I think the color is pretty on your chair frame.

I hate to say I've had to recover ALL for two clients.....the spills were NOT kids: ) and one recover was caused by an incontinent grandpa, on a very specific fabric she was unwilling to let go. &^^%% Happens.

There may be fading over time,/velvet can crush a bit as well, so keep in mind if the seat has to be done, the back might have to be as well. The chances of having to do more than one chair is slim, so I’d order enough to cover a seat and back.
