I have three large patches of erigeron pulchellus in my lawn. It blooms for about three weeks. After going to seed it gets mowed. It's an ideal plant for those who practice No Mow May. Your question inspired me to walk around studying the basal rosettes yesterday afternoon. Grass and white clover are growing amongst them. I don't think it would be an effective weed blocker - perhaps it should be left in the meadow.

For a native ground cover that really covers have you tried packera aurea?

Yep, I planted this after seeing it at the Botanic Garden in DC. It makes a good ground cover. I also underplanted Hydrangea with it.

Looks great ! Has it spread for you?

It has definitely spread but hasn’t thickened up to where it is effectively suppressing ALL the weeds. It is planted under a mature dogwood and hydrangeas so it is in dry soil with dappled light and it’s doing really well in a chellenging spot.
