Hi! Are you planning on custom drapery or already-made? Because that will determine the height for you. I would place it in the middle of the crown and the window trim, so 1/2" from the top of the trim and 1/2" from the bottom of the crown. What is the width of the window and the width of the wall? Do you want to hang anything on either side of the window?

They’ll be custom. The windows are combined 72 inches, and the full wall is 12 feet across. I won’t likely hang anything else on that wall.

IMO drapes should be at least 2x the width of the rod not the window and ones that look skimpy look cheap as for where to put the rod as wide as possible to have stack back to allow all the window to show and 6" above the window frame to allow the drapes to hang properly .

Such pretty windows! The width/fullness would depend in part on the fabric. Sheers usually require 3 widths, but heavier fabrics could use 1 1/2 to 2 widths. In my living room, I have an 80" bay window and have 3 widths because they are sheers, but in the dining room, on a 60" double French door, I used 2 widths because the fabric is a heavy linen with a blackout liner.

What is the fabric you are going to use?

In any case, definitely mount the hardware as high up as you can go, and beyond the window casing. As was mentioned, you want the curtains not to block the glass when they are fully opened.

My dream fabric would be Bird and Thistle by Brunschwig & Fils. Cotton 54” wide.
