If this is the shape of your sectional, you have a huge problem

If you place this in front of the window, turned facing the TV you'll be blocking the fireplace.

I agree with BeverlyFLADeziner that it's hard to work with that sectional, but I'll give one suggestion. I would centre it on the fireplace and move it closer. I would then move the tv over the fireplace. I rarely recommend having a tv over the fireplace but in this case I think it would work - you would be leaning to watch it on the sectional and you'd be able to watch it from the kitchen area. I like the and little coffee table you already have. I think the two black units can stay but clear them off. Put the nice picture you have over your fireplace where your tv is now and remove the tv stand. Would you be able to move the sectional forward and centre it now so we can see what it would look like? Take more pictures and post them.

Suggestions:

--Float the sectional towards the fireplace with the shorter end centered under the window and facing TV where it is. Down the road, consider getting a sofa table between sofa and window.

--Place a very long media piece below the TV instead of having all these small pieces, which clutter the space.

--Since you'll be moving the sectional forward, get a big enough rug so front legs of sectional sit on the rug and the rug edge lines up with the fireplace right edge.

The sectional is six pieces you can rearrange and separate. If you move everything except the corner piece down towards the fireplace you can add the chaise to those four pieces at the end away from the fireplace. You have a long couch with a chaise end. Add a large ottoman. Store the extra corner piece

What did you PAY for the sectional?

In two minutes? I'd have it on Marketplace, and I would be in the market asap for a couch and chairs.

There should be a law against these chaise sectionals , especially.

No sectional ever likes to move........but these top the list as horrendous investment - when one can easily put ones feet up on any ottoman paired with a couch.

This below?..............yes. This is called "versatility."

If possible, would you be able to purchase a new couch? As others have suggested, the placement with a couch and arm chairs will work best.

Since you have dark floors and dark sofa that takes up a lot of visual space, a patterned rug should contrast and have a palette of the Agreeable Gray (walls), dark brown (floors), dark gray (sofa), possibly with a tiny bit of red if you're keeping your art work. Or add red and tan pillows to your sofa.

P.S. I always recommend ordering the smallest size rug as a test sample before committing to a very large rug. Test it out in daylight and under artifical light at night. Then send it back.

It looks like your sectional is a true sectional - you can reconfigure.

When my sister in law decided to change her living room - needed chairs that were suitable to use after knee replacement surgery - they simply removed the corner piece (stored in the basement and one of the seats.

In your case you could use the chaise on one end and 3 or 4 seats going across the window wall instead of having the U shape.

Not everyone hates a chaise. Not everyone hates a sectional. You need to know the needs of your family and what you like or dislike.

I have a sectional without a chaise that I love. It works perfectly in my home.

My sister has a 4 seat sofa with a chaise that works well in her home.

I had an individual chaise lounge in my last home that worked well in the family room.

I like having sitting on a chaise lounge when watching TV.
