First Daylily to Bloom

Kiss of Paradise is my first daylily to bloom - just like in Nashville. The petal color is a much darker yellow than it was there. Nothing else in the ground will bloom for awhile. I do have a couple new acquisitions in pots that will probably bloom later this week.

These Asiatic lilies started blooming last week:

The peonies just finished blooming over the weekend.

Glad to see your season has begun! The Kiss of Paradise color is indeed more yellow. How interesting. What huge clumps of peonies!!

Sherry - The bloom time seems to be 10-14 days later that the starting time in Nashville. There I usually got the first daylily blooms the last week of May. I do have Kiss of Paradise planted right next to the house, and those plants seem to be a bit ahead of the ones planted farther away in the yard.

Kate - I'm not surprised about the darker petal color. Hoosier Nan's was always a darker yellow. The peonies are huge clumps - probably need to be divided. I have some smaller clumps of another pink peony next to the house.

Nancy - I brought Kiss of Paradise only because it blooms it so early. I don't particularly care for how it looks here though. I think another difference may be bloom times here. Some that were mid in Nashville will likely be EM here, and some of the EM bloomers will be later than that.

I do like Kiss of Paradise. It is much lighter here bbut a lovely bloom and I will be envying your peonies! Too hot here for them.
