Living Room Decorating

Alright, all these windows are throwing me off with where to put a TV. I don’t like TVs on top of fireplaces but that’s my only option. The back of this picture is a hallway and a staircase so can’t go there.

Also what are thoughts on a sectional in this area? Maybe an L shaped so from this angle you see the back and the other backside is facing the right window wall? Put a cute sofa table on the back facing the photo with some simple decor? 2 chairs on the opposite side?

Yes to a console or sideboard behind the couch with minimal decor.

Do you need a TV in this room?

Do you use the TV daily?

What size TV and will it be wider than the fireplace surround?

For TV placement, it looks like your choices are: over the fireplace, in front of a window or floating in the room on a console/hutch where the couch is assuming you have/can do an in-floor electrical outlet.

Personally, I would choose over the fireplace and remove the wood framing/drywall the niche over the mantel. Second choice is TV on a low sideboard between two windows on a one side wall. You could use a lift cabinet so the TV retracts so hidden when not in use, but these cabinets can be tall which isn’t great view-wise.

Get an Easel TV stand. Some have wheels. You are going to block part of a window, as you have no other choice. At least an easel looks intentional and better than a solid console.

We think you should post an image of the back wall. Sometimes there is a place that you don't think of. Otherwise you'd either have to mount the TV in-between one of the sets of windows or place a TV on a console table in the nook areas on either side of the fireplace windows. Honestly mounting the TV on an articulating arm above the fireplace might be your best bet. That way you could pull the TV down or turn it how you need to to view it properly. Otherwise yes a sofa table behind the sofa and the chairs should be how they are in the photo unless you want them in front of the windows on either side of the fireplace. Here are a few images from a few designs of ours that might just help more.

Placing a sofa facing the fireplace walls off the room. For a more open, inviting feel, float opposing sofas on the window walls, 2 low profile chairs facing the fireplace with a martini table between.

First - it is a beautiful room!

chispa's idea for using an easel is one that has become popular over the last several years. Many are able to be easily moved (on wheels/casters - some are hidden) + angled.

Also, some are made in order for the entire tv to be rotated (which is nice for a Frame tv):

I don't know why this next photo keeps rotating - when I add it, it is positioned correctly - and then it switches.

Also - if you use a tv lift in either a cabinet or ceiling, you would be able to conceal it when it's not being used:

There are MANY different types of cabinets (and lifts). The cabinets do not have to be as tall as they used to be.

Here someone bought a lift and used it in an antique trunk:

This one has storage behind the doors (many have faux doors):

Here is one where the lift is used to drop the tv from the ceiling:

This is one where a screen is used (hidden in the ceiling when not in use):

They also have fold down ones instead of using a hidden lift in the ceiling:
