Laundry Room All-In-One Washer Dryer

Exploring saving space with the Samsung Bespoke 5.3 cu ft ultra capacity all-in-one washer dryer. The technology on these has significantly improved on the larger units. I welcome feedback on those who have it.

Do you truly not have space for separate units? How long does it take to complete a cycle of wash and dry and how many are in your household. We looked into it and then went with stackables.

If that was the only way I could have a washer and dryer then maybe. If I had the room for separate units that is what I would do.

With the all-in-one unit you can not start another load of laundry until the first load is done. With the separate units after the load is washed you throw it into the dryer and can then get another load started for washing. By the time that load is done the clothes in dryer are dry and newly washed load can go in. Now think about how that would work with the all-in-one. Plus what happens if one of the systems on the all-in-one breaks down? You then have to replace the entire unit instead of just one.

With that said it also comes down to the size of the household and how much laundry you generate. We currently have 3 people and still generate a lot of laundry between pj’s, workout clothes, yardwork clothes and general everyday wear. Then you’ve got a load of towels and a load of bedding. If I had the all-in-one unit It would take forever to get wash done.

Having 2 of the all-in-one units would work out well.

True, but there's no stacking standard. If you have a stacked set and one appliance breaks after, say, 10 years you may find that the new appliance cannot be stacked above or below the old one because the size or shape of the new appliance's stacking connector is doesn't match the old appliance's.

@wdccruise Yes but I would never do stacked. I would not be able to reach the top unit. But for those that can that is a good point and something to consider. I was thinking more of two separate units side by side.

I'd ask on the UK version of Houzz. They are much more common there.

Sounds like a good idea for a “low load per week” family. And @Kendrah is right - they use them way more overseas.

Kendrah: "I'd ask on the UK version of Houzz."

But any information provided there would be useless because (a) few-to-no models sold there are available in the US and (b) large-capacity models such as the Samsung WD53DBA900HZ are virtually unheard of there.

    Good points @wdccruise

I read the reviews of the machine and found it fascinating that people eager for this machine were not getting it for space saving but rather because they love AI technology and/or overwhelmingly have a problem remembering to transfer clothes from the washer to the dryer and let clothes sit in the washer and get stinky. I have done that maybe twice in my life. I didn't realize it was even a problem.

Nobody mentions doing clothes for a family. Someone boasted that it only took 3 hours to wash and dry a load. It takes me nowhere near that to wash and dry a load with my stackable. If it took me 3 hours per load, I'd get so much less laundry done.

I think people also like that you can throw in a load before you go to bed and the entire washing and drying is done while you sleep.

I know this comment is likely not helpful as you probably read the reviews yourself. I just find it interesting that we all have different concerns and needs around laundry. I live in an apartment and am lucky enough to have a laundry room in my unit and was thrilled that LG washtower is so compact yet holds a lot, takes up little floor space.

Unless you have space constraints it seems more trouble than it's worth. We do our entire laundry loads in 3 hours. Between, towels, sheets, delicates, jeans and permanent press loads, we would be washing all day to complete our laundry. I guess if you dump everything in the washer and just go for it then maybe it's not so bad. Maybe if your single and don't have a lot of laundry it may be worth it? Do any of these machines run using 220V? It seems that would help the drying cycle. Hek it would be faster to hang them on a clothes line or put them on hangers around the house (I grew up in the country). I'm sure there are situations where they are practical, but at my age and I have space for separate machines, that is what I will be sticking with. Not to mention it still seems like it's less expensive to have separate units, excluding energy cost.

My god, I must be doing something wrong. @kevinande can you break that down so I can learn how to do laundry that quickly?
