Pillows for matching LR sofas

Pillow ideas for these two matching LR sofas who sit opposite one another? Other ideas and suggestions appreciated also. It would be great if you could include actual links to buy the pillows. I have worked on this for a while and just can't seem to come up with the right color/pattern combination for each soda. I'm partial to textures! I will probably be removing the American flag on the bookcase, just trying to let my husband enjoy remembering his father while we're getting this room together.

IMO pillows are your last choice. I would get window treatments next. I think that cabinet is too large for that corner. Instead of all those colorless small pieces I would get some art for those shelves. Hang it or lean it on the back wall so it looks recessed.

Thank you for your input and also the pillow suggestions. Agreed with your opinion on the curtains and the large armoire.

Curtains have been an issue because that wall where the windows are is plaster and we don't know of any easy way to hang them. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, the armoire is not optimal there, it makes the room a bit unbalanced, but we have no other option of where to put it in our house and it's needed for storage. I don't think it would fit through any door frames.

    Pillows are pretty, thanks!

To hang curtains on plaster walls, locate studs for secure mounting or use appropriate anchors like toggle bolts or molly bolts for areas without studs. Pre-drilling pilot holes, especially when using screws, helps prevent cracking or chipping of the plaster. Detailed Steps:

    1. 1. Locate Studs (if possible):Use a stud finder to locate the wall studs behind the plaster. Studs offer the most secure mounting points.
    2. 2. Mark Stud Locations: Mark the edges of each stud on the wall with a pencil.
    3. 3. Prepare for Anchors (if no studs): IfIf you can't mount to a stud, use appropriate anchors like toggle bolts or molly bolts, which expand behind the plaster to provide a strong hold.
    4. 4. Choose the Right Anchors:
    • Toggle bolts: Ideal for heavier curtains. Insert the bolt through the bracket, collapse the wings, insert into the drilled hole, and tighten to expand the wings behind the plaster.
    • Molly bolts: Also good for heavier items. Tap the anchor into the drilled hole until the flange is flush with the wall, then tighten the screw to expand the anchor.
    1. 5. Pre-Drill Pilot Holes: DrillDrill pilot holes for screws, slightly smaller than the screw diameter, to prevent the plaster from cracking.
    2. 6. Install Brackets: SecureSecure the curtain rod brackets to the wall using the chosen anchors and screws or nails.
    3. 7. Install Curtain Rod: SlideSlide the curtain rod into the installed brackets and ensure it's level and stable.
    4. 8. Consider Shims: IfIf the wall is uneven, use shims behind the brackets to level the rod.

    Tips for Success:

    • Always pre-drill pilot holes to avoid damaging the plaster.
    • Consider using a laser level to ensure the curtain rod is perfectly straight.
    • If using nails, consider using self-tapping screws instead, as they are less likely to damage the plaster.
    • For heavier curtains, prioritize mounting to studs or using toggle bolts or molly bolts.
    • If you encounter resistance when drilling, it might indicate you've hit a stud or asolid backing behind the plaster.

Thank you for the plaster wall help. We need a small patch repaired from water damage. We'll find out if the wall is backed by brick. So far looks that way.

Your room feels like a lovely sea of neutrals - punctuating it with eye catching pillows seems a mistake. Instead, I'd get subtle pillows.

    Get four lumbar pillows total:

    - Two of the patterned pillows below placed on one sofa facing front along the 1/3 lines where the cushions meet.

    - Two of the solid velvet pillows placed along the arms of the opposite sofa.

The kirsha pattern and camel velvet have just a hint of color, but are really more like neutrals in the room, and are all about texture. They play off of the leather tone, your floor tone, the blue undertone in your walls, and I specially like that they aren't an exact match to anything.

The Citizenry pillows are a bit more expensive because they are fair trade and know the makers. I have purchased pillows from them and the quality is incredible.

I think almond or camel could work with Kirsha.

I love your amoire there. Perhaps it is because I have lived in small spaces that I appreciate that it juuuust fits perfectly in that small spot.

Regarding window treatments, have you needed them for privacy? You seem to be located away from street view. I'd ditch window treatments and instead make a covered valance out of a light weight material that can be command strip attached to the wall. (Yes, I have also lived in a slew of homes with plaster walls and know the evils of trying to hang window treatments on them.) A short bit of fabric across the top of the window - mostly covering the wall above the window and a tad bit of the widow could soften the space.

I like the neutrals you already have in the room and now it needs just a bit of oomph. Start with adding art over the fireplace and on the long wall of the dining area. Use colors in the artwork in your pillow selection.

I'll have to check out citizenry, the lumbar pillow is nice, love the texture. Thanks for the help in what type pillow to place where! Command strips sound like they might work for the window.

We also like the idea of a single piece of artwork over the fireplace and we're wondering what to do over the DR table. Btw, we just installed fireballs and love them! Easy to make a fire!

Thanks again for your input, all of it has been much appreciated.
