Sweet Frances, a Pioneer Rose

This is one of the Pioneer Roses from the Antique Roses Emporium that is doing very well in my garden as the ground squirrels have for the most part left it alone. I couldn't resist cutting a blossom for inside.

A few more pics, with the full bush shot dating from 2019, shortly before the ground squirrels began eating all the roses. You might wonder why I have snarling porcelain dogs on my dining table, but those are my beloved 19th century Chinese Shiwan figures that I won at an auction.

I just bought a huge container of Deer Out and my fingers are tightly crossed that it will keep the critters away!

Ingrid, what a pretty bloom, and I agree with what Vaporvac says about the setting. That quarter-sawn oak tabletop is divine. Sure beats my mystery wood table from Target ;)

Thank you so much; the table is a cherished heirloom from my parents and I know it wasn't new even then. Thankfully "brown furniture" is back in vogue again.

Delighted to see you're getting at least some roses, Ingrid! and I hope that eventually, with trial and effort, you'll find a way to fight off those vermin. How about putting those snarling doggy statues outside, in front of the roses, LOL? Scare the critters off!!!

I like all dogs, including snarly porcelain ones. Ingrid, it’s always great to see your tastefully arranged and presented roses. As for brown furniture, I’ve always been a fan. Heritage+tradition=class. Something woefully lacking these days.

Thank you, dear ladies, you are the best. I'm so hoping that I'll be able to hang on to a few roses so that I can continue to post here and interact with all you wonderful people. So far I'm cautiously optimistic, and cannot wait to have a few more blooms (they're taking their time!) to show off here. It's been a glorious rose season for many of you and seeing the wonderful photos you've posted has been such a treat!
