Hi folks .. I used Tanglefoot on a wrap-around in Nov 24 at the base of the trunk because black ants kept running up and down and I read in another forum that Tanglefoot is a non-pesticide way to control ants. Removed the wraparound in late May and I see that the bark has turned dark and shriveled. Not going to use this product anymore since I don't think its good for the tree

But the reason I removed the Tanglefoot is because I saw an orange spot above the wrap-around area, this orange may be the result of using TF or it could be something completely new.

Tree at the moment seems to be doing ok. Ants still prevalent but in smaller numbers.
