Turning the tub into a vanity

We do not use our primary bath tub at all and already have a tub in our child’s bathroom. I desperately want this to be turned into a seated vanity + additional storage area (cabinetry?drawer space?). There is a window which I love for the natural light it brings in but it could certainly present a challenge! Totally out of my realm of design/construction knowledge here. Has anyone ever done this? Any suggestions/ideas? Included photos of the current space for reference.

The tub and surround can be removed - however, are you planning on replacing the flooring? If you remove the tub, you will need more flooring that matches your current flooring - or you will have to replace it,

Most people remove this type of tub and extend the shower. I haven't seen anyone take out a tub like this and simply replace it with a vanity area - however, that doesn't mean that you couldn't do it if that's what you want. I'm just not sure that it's the best idea (for future resale).

The house was built in 2019 so I’m hopeful the flooring could still be available. In our current home we removed the jacuzzi tub and made a huge shower, but the shower in this new home is already a good size. I saw this inspo photo that might generate some more ideas…

Worrying bout resale depends on how long you plan to stay in this house. I worried for about 30 years and finally decided it's MY house and I can put in what pleases m and not a fictitious future buyer. Don't rip up the tub unless you know for sure if the same tile is still available or not.

This is what we did. there was a large jacuzzi tub beliw the window. it was part of a complete reno though, so we didnt have to worry about matching tile, etc

Sue 430 - Your cabinet color is FABULOUS! Mind sharing what the light fixture is / who make it?

A thing to note. Even if you do find the same kind of tile, it will be a few years difference in lots. So might be real close, and close enough to suit you. But be prepared that it might not be and you need to have a plan B.

It looks like the tub surround tile might be the same stuff as the floor. As a prep for plan B, salvage remove those tiles real careful and set them aside. Use those tiles as the outside border of the space left by the tub removal. Choose something different for the center where you need fill. A mosaic tile, a hardwood pice, a stone that compliments the darker or lighter tones in the current tile. Or if it's enough to fill the main area not covered by the new vanity, perhaps a different flooring under the vanity nook that you find pleasing to your feet.
