I would leave the ceiling and stair rail, but paint out everything else.

Agree, I would also paint the walls and leave ceiling and beams alone.

Its a mountain cabin, and it looks good. I wouldnt paint any of it.

Don’t do anything till you furnish the room, add area rug and art. Then decide if something should be painted. You’re jumping the gun on this. Paint last.

I'm not usually a fan of this tone of wood, yet I hesitate to recommend painting it. Instead, I'd get a new front door, wonderful furnishings, and perhaps paint the already painted wall a different tone of neutral.

I would pick up the gray in the stone of the FP and STAIN the cabinet, shelves, mantel and railing around the stair

Select a chandelier for the room

Get a larger TV for over the FP.

I like what Beverly did with the built-in, stairs, plus the added chandelier. It all adds some nice contrast and dimension. And I am not usually one for altering these types of homes in such fashion. If you like her idea, you could bring in your white/ivory shades in rug, furnishings, drapes, etc. The larger tv is a good idea, too.

Me, Myself & I would probably leave all the wood and just bring in the colors, textures and vibe in other ways.

I find the wood on the wall to the right a bad look as it is not like the rest so jars the look. I am not a huge wood lover but IMO in this case the wood other than that right wall is quite nice . I would proably paint the walls that are not wood a nice soft grayed gree like Healing Aloe from BM but cut to be just a hint of green it will be like a color from the stone and works well with all the wood. IMO a good stain on the right wall to match the rest. A huge area rug and all your furniture willl tone down all the wood and honestly I would live with it for awhile before even thinking of paintint it since hard to go back. You do however need lots of lighting and I would check out cable lighting

As someone else said it is a mounting cabin. That denotes wood. So, will suggest you leave as is and introduce color and pattern with furnishings and artwork.
