I would put the highboy at the foot of the bed, it's too crowded between the doors.

if the TV is a must, can you mount it on the wall?

I would also do a layered window covering, a blind and an over drape, either as light as the wall color, or a pattern with the wall color as the background.

The bedding is fine, just add an interesting layer and shams to tie it all together.

Bedisde tables? The art above the bed is too much contrast to the dark wall... something darker and three panels rather than two.

I see how the black and white artwork pops on the black accent wall but the wall overwhelms them in scale. Put them on side walls with simple black frames and as Lyn suggest something large in 3 panels over the bed. Three tall brass framed mirrors or a large circle one to echo the shape of the lights would restore some light to the dark wall. Brass or wood for nightstands would also bring more life to the black backdrop and be really useful..

The highboy would work on the wall at the foot of the bed in the corner and the little table with TV might fit next highboy . Move around furniture for easiest walking spaces then place your artwork. You might could mount tv and B&W framed Artworks to create a gallery wall that would echo your black accent wall. Carry that B&W scheme to new curtains or drapes with a black print on a natural cream fabric, They could be a classic toile, stripe or check or a bold grafitti pattern painted on drop cloths. Maybe just use a simple scarf drape over black rods and a natural shade or blinds to match comforter.

I think the bed is on the wrong wall, but it looks like there is a lot invested into its present position. The tall chest of drawers and what appears to be a secretary desk are chopping up the flow in the room. A long low dresser and the TV can be mounted above it. The bed looks a bit naked without some night tables. Paint out the fan blades white to make the fan disappear. The dark wall and rug look nice, the artwork would look better on a different wall and put a triple matching artwork or a large single piece.

I agree with Dust Bunny about the dresser. A long low dresser and the TV can be mounted above it. I would remove the highboy and corner cabinet with TV. If you move the bed down some you might be able to get two nightside on each side of the bed.

Move one of picture from over the bed to where the highboy was. I would get one large piece of art for over the bed. I like the color of your bedding, but I would try to find art that brings in some of the burgundy color.

Yes I agree, dust bunny about the bed placement. Ultimately I decided that I’d rather have it on a wall that was as symmetrical as possible as opposed to one that had a random window/ window and radiator.

I don't think that particular rug does anything for the room. Wrong size and wrong color/pattern.

The radiator makes decorating more challenging. It may work better to have some type of roller shade or blinds on the windows so the radiator doesn't affect the window treatment. The pulled back draperies are trying hard to fit the spot but it just doesn't fit there. What are the room dimension? That would be helpful to know. To make a room symmetrical with window placement making a challenge, you can make a fake window on the other side the same size by putting up matching trim and a mirror for the "window" or leave the wall blank. Either case, put the same window treatment on that fake window and it will fool the eye and look great

Go one step at a time so you don't have spend money on everything new. Put dresser in corner of wall across from bed.

How large is that TV and do you watch it often? It seems pretty small to be viewed at that distance. I'd see better just watching our laptops together from in bed. (Which is what we do!)

Get blackout roman blinds or blackout cellular shades and get rid of the curtains.

Your bedding is fine. Get a nice super long lumbar to put across it with a bit of brown in it.

Painting the fan to match the ceiling will help a lot.

Take artwork down. Hang a small piece of artwork between closet doors. I don't think you need artwork above the bed.

Relocate the sconces and art on black wall, dress-up the bedding, replace the curtains with linen roman shades, replace the ceiling fan with a fandolier...

If you plan to keep the nice heavy black curtains, add a center support to each rod so the rods don't sag. They would look much better if the rods extended about a foot (or at least six-eight inches) farther so the curtains could be drawn back more completely. Given the reality of corner placements, that means only one side could be more drawn back.

It would be easy to try the highboy to the wall at the foot of the bed. A mirror over it instead of the plant would look good. The plant could go in a room with more natural light.

For a more dramatic and finished look to the bed wall, look for large canvas art with considerable impact in color and design. Avoid pale and cute "greeting card" art.

A folded black blanket or quilt at the end of the bed would look good in winter. Hotels use a folded "bed scarf".

I would remove the rug do not let it drive the bus at all Infact I like mats besde the bed for you feet and no rug 1/2 hidden by the bed then choose the bedding then the window coverings making sure you get what you need from them Then wall color IMO the black is very dramatic the drapes soso depends on the fabric . Tha ceiling fan has got to go. Get a nice Dyson floor fan if dramatic is what you want add a fab chandelier .Do thosel ights help you read in bed if not they are useless so maybe night tables and lamps could add to the glam. I need some guidance from you as to why the black wall before the bedding was chosen since IMO the bedding sets the style and the color palette . I think a black bedroom can be awesome but I need info from you

Thanks for all of the comments! I’ve already made many changes based on the suggestions. I’ve swapped the tall dresser for the shorter one that’s in our guest room (see my other design dilemma post). I’ve removed the pictures above the bed. I’ll be getting some additional accent pillows and a throw for the bed. The corner table with the tv is going out. I do want to replace the curtains with sheer white ones and then add blinds to the window! I’ll post some updates when I get home!

Came across this on Pinterest. This is exactly what I’m gong for. I had ordered nightstands but stupidly I ordered them in black. So I might return them 😅 since they’ll probably blend into the wall.

Try putting the hiboy in the corner where the small piece is, having it *span* the corner.

Get rid of the dark drapes. Other than some type of cloth shade, consider 2" natural wood blinds. Then possibly a valance. White sheers seem out of place. It's a small room and drapes accentuate that. No to drapes.

Yes, get natural wood finish nightstands.

The rug is the wrong style and color. There are hundreds of choices, but here are two samples that might work.

Thanks everyone! The suggestions have been very helpful. We’ll do things slowly bc we don’t want to spend much money. Just some sprucing. I’m honestly much happier with how it looks now, including the black wall and the rug ;). It’s almost there!
