- Also get an inside door rack. Great for holding everything - paper towels, cleansers, iron, hardware, cans. I mount them with screws so they have no over the door clips and cannot be seen from outside of the closet.

- Get some command hooks for hanging bags of bags and other light things.

IMO we need to see what you already have to store since that will tell us how much space you have left . I see a shampoer where are the other item thta are tall like the brooms and how ,many . Is what you show thaere a vacuum and a shampoer doe sit do both????? I see space for aat least one more shelf maybe 2 if spaced differently . Some nice baskets labelled for the other stuff . I would look for deeper baskets since that is a deep cabinet and stuff will get lost easiliy .

Thank you. I have a vacuum that fits right in front of the shampooer. I agree about getting some nice deep baskets. I have an ironing board and iron that will go in the closet, a broom or two, a
Swifter-type mop and a dust mop and some dustpans. I will put the objects in the closet and re-take the photo and post.

You have aton of stuff so the shelves are a must and maybe even some holders for the other stuff to keep them from falling all over . Something like this

Thanks to everyone who responded with suggestions. I will repost photos with all of the items I would like to store in this closet. As well, I plan to buy some baskets to put on the shelf that's already installed in the closet. That long white bag holds plastic bags for recycle which can be put in a basket or other receptacle ... I get quite a few of them before I bring them to the collection site.

To utilize the most space, I think I would have floor to ceiling shelves on one side, leaving the other side open for taller and hanging items.

The Elfa system is great, and lots of flexibility, but a lot of money for a utility closet.

Kendra's Intermetro shelves are nice too, if you want wire shelves.

Personally, I don't care for wire shelving, so I would use wood or plastic, but anything would work, depending on your preference and budget.

This is the closet that serves as my "desk". The closet is 42" wide; the plastic shelves are 34" x 15". I put an additional wire shelf above, for less used things, and a few hanging things on the side (including a magnetic white board). The plastic drawers hold things like stamps, address labels, command hooks, batteries, greeting cards, etc., and help to utilize the tall space between shelves. In your case, something like this with baskets or tubs could be really useful, with hangers like Patricia showed on one side. Using the back of the door is a great idea too (which you already do with the dog leashes).
