Architectural advice

I need to redesign this room to be a multifunctional home office and guest room. Unfortunately the design of the room is so weird. I have two closets separated by the fireplace in the middle. Way too much going on. Wondering if someone can offer me some advice on how to make the space functional and pretty. My design type is French romantic meets farmhouse chic btw!!

I would paint out the whole room one color (the light you have is great)

Paint over the transom windows from the inside, same with brick.

are both doors closets?

I am guessing the fireplace isn't functional. Get an area rug you love.

Replace the drapes with a single drapery just under the ceiling from wall to wall (blinds on the windows for light control and privacy. your chaise/sofa for sleeping and watching TV on the wall opposite the fireplace/TV mount.

I would replace the table lamp with a wall mounted light fixture.

Set up the desk/computer on the short wall where the open door is in the photo.

Looks like you are running electrical cords. Address the power source so it's safe.

I would try to use one closet for office stuff nd the other for guests so none of your stuff in there . I think the FPis not working so paaint it a cool colr and maybe that marble from the other space in the fire box area. The sofa needs to move forward so the drapes hang behind Too many pillows and not really great ones . All the stuff that does not belong needs to go like the scale for instance . Dead plants ae never good . A good declutter and add in what is a must and some really fun pillows maybe mongolian lamp and velvet .

We cannot see all 4 walls to determine a furniture layout. Can you give us an idea of the dimensions of the room or even better post a floor plan showing all dimensions as well as doors and windows.

Do people sleep on the sofa or on a blow up mattress? Is there enough room to place the sofa backing onto the desk? Try moving the sofa to that location and post a picture for us. Centre your tv and then clean up all the wires. You can change the black wire to white or ignore that but come up with a way to hide the extension cords etc (box, basket etc). Move the air purifier so it's not taking away from the look of the fireplace. Move the plant near the window. As a quick fix you could paint a piece of bristol board the same pink at the other opening above the cupboard and stick it in front of the opening with the netting. You could place a pretty firescreen in front of the fireplace opening for interest.

Anything that relies on precise room measurements cannot be even suggested, without precise room measurements. Post a fully measured scale diagram as a starting point.
