I have never heard of that, but, guess, I would wait out the month, because, its not leaking etc. Then, if after a month, it is still mismatched, I would ask for a whole new roof on the front side at least, so it looks better.

Not from my perspective. they use blends so the different lots do not stick out. That looks like a completely different color or manufacturer. Shingles do not change color in a month. They are trying to pacify you.

How is it your fault that they used up all the matching shingles by their mistake? If they have to replace them all to get a match, so be it.

I mis-drilled some faucet holes in a Cambria countertop once and knew that if I couldn't get an acceptable repair, I'd have to replace the whole kitchen, not just the island, because their color was discontinued. I got lucky; they didn't.

They are BS-ing you. The shingles are from a different lot and that is why they don't match. If some oils needed to do their thing in a month then the darker shingles and the lighter shingles would both be doing it and there would still be a mismatch in the color. They messed up and have to make it right.

Call the manufacturer youself and see if they have ever heard of this oil thing. My contractor once gave me some BS about a product like that, I called the manufacturer and they were horrified that someone was misrepresenting their product like that and gave me all of the ammo I needed to come back to the contractor and say make this right.
