Do you have pics of the furniture going in these rooms?

We don’t have any 😅 Selling our current place with all the furniture. So clean slate!
The office will have this large rectangle piece of artwork of an alligator. It’s a black background with a white alligator. The frame is dark brown. It’s my husband’s office.

Th most critical part of your house before you move in is the floors. They are the most obnoxious to change once you have all your stuff happily put away. Paint can be changed in a month - or in three years - if you tire of it. This color, with the wainscoting, looks good in the photos.

Buy furniture you love. It’s more expensive than a can of paint. Don’t feel like you need to “match” it. Sit on couches and chairs before committing to them. Comfort is key. Same with a mattress - buy a good one.

Love the blue in the office. Match floor in bedroom to what looks to be several rooms.

The carpet is just a quick fix for now. Even though it’s not ideal, we will eventually refinish the hardwoods throughout the house and replace all the carpeted rooms. Not doing that till we do a kitchen Reno. We are absolutely not ready to take on that yet. Just trying to get it move in ready.

Finally thoughts:

1. Color drench the whole office? Ceiling, trim, wainscoting?

2. Painting everything but the ceiling in the bedroom?

I tried to use ChatGPT to provide me an example of what it could look like. I will say chatgpt does not accurately depict the color but it does give a decent idea of what the rooms could be.

I like the office - but I like moody colors/rooms. Some people might not like working in an office that is color drenched.

I'm not wondering if I should color drench my home study . . .

It also has a fireplace - so, I'm not sure how to handle that feature in the room.

No to color drenching. I still say keep what you have. The rooms look nicely done and light and bright. The color drenching looks very dark, and unviting.

What is your overall plan for your home? Styles, colors, what mood do you want?

Don't rush into painting, you can paint after moving in. What you don't want to do is paint, move in, change your mind, paint again. . .

Interior design is so much more effective and so much less expensive when you take the time to really think about what you want as an end result and develop a plan that guides you to the finish line.

That said, if I wanted to wall paper the dining room and color drench the office I would think about using the same wallpaper on the ceiling of the office and the color drench color on the ceiling of the dining room.

To me this would be perfect for a coastal home

If a color-drenched office makes you feel cocooned and cozy, then do it. If you’re unsure, don’t. But remember, we are talking about can or two of paint. It’s not an expensive mistake if you change your mind in a year.

I would concider painting the bottom AND the ceiling at least 3 shades lighter!
