Help w/living room layout.

Hello. Just bought a house and staring in this living room and breakfast area. I'm thinking of a sectional sofa (or maybe 2 sofas) -- although I hate to block windows and it would sit off-center.

Any advice would be very much appreciated and helpful. Thought I might put a sofa table behind back of sofa separating breakfast area?

What are the dimensions of the room? In a room with all windows it's hard not to place furniture in front of them. Float the furniture a litlle bit away from the windows not shoved up close. 2 sofas and chairs are a better option for optimal seating

Placing a sectional in front of a bay window is kind of fighting the architecture.

Here is a sofa with a curved back from Room and Board

The sofa could be placed in front of the window and two swivel chairs used to divide the living room from the dining room area.

I like the idea of two sofas and swivel chairs. Yes a sofa table behind on the dining side.

But I'd put the table on the tile, not the carpet.

A photo of the TV wall would help for placement suggestions.

Yes, no need to block the windows, pull the furniture away from the walls/windows.

any window coverings?

I would put a sofa in front of the bank of windows, pulled away from the windows so you can walk behind. Another Sofa with a sofa table behind to separate the dining area, and two swivel chairs in front of the fireplace (actually flanking) so everyone can see the TV and enjoy the fireplace. with a coffee table/ottoman in the center to serve everyone.

Although many like everything symmetrical... I would remove a shelf or two and mount the TV in the cabinet near the fireplace, so you can feel like you are taking in both as your focal point(s). any thoughts on painting the room? plenty of natural light to add a tone to warm it up a bit. or even just painting the built ins?
