Thank you. Good video. I dismissed all his suggestions except feeding. I put worm compost and homemade compost around it, so we'll see.

There might be a nutrition deficiency - things like magnesium deficiency can cause odd leaf patterns but I'm not sure which ones. To my eye, most of the affected leaves look like the old ones. It might be a process of shedding leaves that aren't viable anymore.

In zone 10, there's always an issue of the possibility of some interaction with water, where if the plant is water or heat stressed it can't take up the nutrients you provide. You don't want to drown it, but water could be part of what you provide in addition to the compost.

Bottom line is - do no harm. You're safe with compost and water, and in general your rose looks healthy.

I also thought that some of the leaves in the second pic looked like RMV. What rose is it and where was it from? There may be other things going on too, like nutritional deficiency or just weird old leaves. As Diane mentioned, in my climate, RMV is not an issue with the growth of roses. Is the rose happy and healthy?

The rose bush was here when my family bought the property 50 years ago, so no idea what bush it is. It has not been vigorous, some years just 1-2 blooms, but it hangs on.
