I would go for a linear style pendant. There are several different styles, here's one available in different lengths and colours.

Another vote here for no pendant. It will visually clutter the space. It seems you have a vision for a kitchen in an open plan with an island. And of course, all the pics you see on the internet have cool pendants. But your space isn’t going to allow you to exactly copy that look. It will be more impactful and elegant without the pendants.

Chop off those last cabinets so the posts end the island on both sides, and then just do recessed.

I don’t see and electrical wires in the ceiling above the island. Are you sure you have what you need to put lighting there?
