Flooring colour? Darker or lighter?

Hey everyone, we're redoing our floors and stuck between two colors (pic attached). top one is a bit darker, bottom one is lighter. both are engineered wood. The room gets decent natural light, walls are white. we’re aiming for a modern but cozy vibe — nothing too cold or too trendy.

just wondering what people think. would you go lighter or darker? which one hides dirt and scratches better? does lighter really make the space look bigger? Appreciate any thoughts!

Left sample is cold, trendy. Right seems warmer, more timeless.

What else is in the room? Furnishings? Doors, windows, trim colors? Cabinets? How talk are the ceilings? What is the definition of "decent" natural light? Nothing gets selected in a vacuum.

Very much agree with Kendrah. The one on the left is a very trendy, gray-cast color. I wouldn’t pick it.

I like the one on the right, but, I like the color of the one, that the two samples are laying on, even better. I would pick whats on that floor in the picture already.

The one on the left is not a wood color the occurs in nature. It is cold. What you have is very nice and the left sample is ok but will be darker than what you currently have

Looks like everyone’s into the one on the right, but I’m more into the left-side color. It’s engineered wood, right? Do you know what kind it is?

It all depends upon your decor, and colors, etc. The one on the left is not for most houses. It would work very well in mine, because, I use a lot of black and gray, along with a lot of bright colors. Most houses, are a lot more neutral, and it would not go in those houses.
