Your home is contemporary. Wainscotting is traditional. It won't look right in here nor does it make sense as an isolated treatment instead of being carried throughout a home.

I'm not sure why you are focused just on the left wall when there is no decor anywhere in this room. Think about art, additional lighting, wall color, rugs.

we only see the dining room, what is your decorating style in the rest of the house?

Want a glam dining room for entertaining? or is this a daily use dining room for family dinners? Sorry, just not eenough info. Do you have some inspo images you'd like to reproduce here? How many guests do you need to seat? Storage too?

There are so many ways to go, you've got great lighting with the windows.

Do you have wainscotting in the rest of the house? What colors are you using?

Is the space open to the kitchen? living room?

You don't show your tabletop but this burnished silver and gray wallpaper would be fun and reflect some light. Goes with your chrome and black. Easy to change out if it starts to feel dated as you say.

You have two walls that should be addressed. I would recommend a canvas for one wall and some kind of 3 D wall decor for the other wall.

I suggest painting the wall in a color to your liking. Or painting the entire dining room something to change it up like celery, periwinkle blue, apricot.
