I agree about Bliss, 2 dimensional . I find her healthy and pretty bloomy. Her color is nice but mine-sits next to Munstead so kind of a good foil for his color and as a stand alone would be more impressive . Bliss blooms consistantly but I wouldnt say huge flushes at a time.

Lol, today when I was watering I noticed that Bliss was looking particularly beautiful today.

I got Bliss from HD too in Jan this year, its only had a few blooms after it broke dormancy. I think it's recently had one bloom that fried in the sun. I've seen Rose Geek's Bliss on Youtube and it was in full bloom. I hope mine get to that point!

So do I, Haku. One of my Bliss bushes is growing in the most important spot in my rose bed, seen first, right after you swing open my garden gate. Bliss 2 and 3, planted in the same hole for maximum effect, are more part of the 'corps de ballet,' not in a focal point of my rose bed.

Hope we sing Bliss' praises one day soon!

When I was in PA, my Bliss took 4-5 years to really hit its stride (own root from Heirloom). Then it would flush out nicely, but not huge flushes. I am debating whether to add a baby Bliss to my new garden in VT. 🦋 Photo shows the full flush. It also never had much of a fragrance for me, even at 5 years old.

Yours in your photo looks just about like mine at its best....not a profuse bloomer by any means, just OK. Bliss' selling points are its black spot resistance and winter hardiness to its tips, at least here in zone 6b, which black spot resistance is important, but its winter hardiness is not as significant an asset. It would be in 4b, but not in 6b.

The two Blisses in the same hole were gallons from Heirloom Nursery. The hole was not much larger than the combined diameters of the two root masses of the Blisses. My rose bed is blessed with relatively deep, black, loamy topsoil. There's no need to dig a large hole and add soil amendments. The soil in the bed is more than adequate as is.
