A few lates have started blooming

last year
last modified: last year

We had a nasty storm on Thursday, an inch of rain in 30 minutes. We lost 10% of the branches in a 45yo maple in the backyard. No damage to our house. Needed a saw to take care of the big branches…….branches scattered in the gardens.

I also finally figured out I lost two more daylilies over the winter, Silky Skies and Mage Quest.

My Goldner seedling or as I call it my Jan Zoo look-alike started this week.

A few blooms on Fancy Buttons……thought I lost this one.

Coral Majority started this week, scapes are short…..end of the day photo.

The Jury’s Out just started. The scapes are a bit shorter than last season but the branching and bud count are great again. This is the second full season. A few lilies were storm casualties.

Sherry, you just cannot win in the rain situation, can you? Need rain, get a storm!! At least the glass half full is no damage to your house. I hate you lost Silky Skies-I always enjoyed seeing that one. Your Goldner seedling is a bright one and looks like it has a lot of buds. I always like the color of Coral Majority. Are you feeling better?

Sorry to hear of the storm damage. At least your safe and that is what counts. I do like your "Jan Zoo" look alike. Nice color on it.

So sorry to see you lost Silky Skies and Mage Quest. I always liked your photos of those two. But how nice that your lates are just starting! It looks like you have plenty of buds to go on the Goldner seedling and The Jury's Out. It's good to see your Coral Majority. Brad sent me a replacement for mine, but it didn't scape this season. The only late I have blooming is my August Frost seedling.

The rain has turned around dramatically the last two weeks. The rain gauge tells me we have had 6 1/2 ” of rain. Laura Harwood started about a week ago. It is loaded with buds but the scapes are shorter this season. I have two daylilies I got from Laura this spring and they have scapes!

I will feel better when I get my treatment sometime in August. I hate having no stamina, my weeding is way behind. Aging is a bummer at times.

Orchid Bouquet with black eyed susans.

Siloam Double Delight clump…..it is a mid-late bloomer with 5”+ blooms.

We all want the rain, just not all at once. I hope you didn't get any hail. That's tough on plants. Wishing you a successful treatment soon. I don't mind being old, but my body sure does.........Well, my favorite is the yellow Siloam Double Delight. Pat Henry sure did produce some nice daylilies..........Even this late my Buzz Saw and Orange Smoothie are still blooming. They just don't want to quit this year. I hope yours survived the storm alright..........Maryl

Sorry you lost a couple of daylilies.

Your Jan Zoo look-a-like is very pretty and I always enjoy Coral Majority. Mine is reblooming.
