Keep in mind that with 2) sidelites, you essentially have 3 units built into one, so its far closer to the cost of 3) separate doors than it is to one.

One thing that you could consider is going to a double door. That reduces the number of units to 2, and its also very a very popular look these days. The main downside in my experience is that the astragal (piece that seals both slabs where they meet) is a weak point in terms of energy efficiency, but if you aren't located in a frigid climate that is less of a concern.
