I don't know where you live but here in coastal Massachusetts I would wait a few more weeks until mid august. I have been selling off a nursery for the past few years and all the tree farms that bought from me began fall digging at this time. Maybe of interest: Once I was moving a 4/5' P.Parv. Fukuzumi in midsummer. In the process the unwrapped rootball fell off the forks of the machine and shook off most of the soil. The tree survived and is roughly 7' x 20'.

The info re: bare root is also encouraging because that is likely how these will have to be moved vs rootball.

I have no experience barerooting or otherwise moving a sciadopitys with a sloppy rootball. A few years back i hand trenched around some 20' plus sciadopitys Wintergreen and lifted them out with my bobcat and put a daisy basket on them. 6'wide x 18/24" deep. They all transplanted well. Regarding Parvs : The late great Wayne Mezzitt of Weston Nurseries told me that you can bareroot Pinus parviflora in the fall.

I agree, location, location, location.

Make sure winter buds are set.

In the rugged septentrional areas like mine, generally by middle of August, you're all set.

And that can vary according to moisture conditions, temperatures during the season and how early things got started in the spring.
