Help me find a kitchen mat / rug!

Hi, I have a gallery style kitchen with hardwood (bamboo) floors in my NY apartment and need help finding a great rug. A picture of my kitchen is attached.

I think the ideal size is 3" x 6". I love the Chilewich mats but they I'm worried the 24" x 72" will be too narrow. The dimensions of the overall kitchen space are approx 45' x 80', and I want the rug to run from the sink to fridge and wine fridge (wine fridge is across from my fridge).

A few questions.
1. Is it possible to get the Chilewich mats cut custom?
2. Any ideas for other options I should consider?

I want something that will be easy to clean and durable.

GelPro mats come in lots of colors and sizes. The comfort is awesome and they wipe clean and dry.

Is there a specific reason you need a rug in this small space? I think your floors are lovely just the way they are. A rug in this tight space, depending on the style and/or material, could pose some safety hazards and be more of a nuisance getting your foot caught on the edge moving around. Just my two cents....

You could have fun defining your style or bringing through an accent color with a small hallway style runner carpet here. You have much white going on, so a pop of color with some accents around the kitchen would look lovely. I agree with shead and get a low profile carpet so you don't catch a foot.

I also agree with shead. Your floors are gorgeous. I would leave them nekkid.

Chilewich does make mats that come in 46.5'' x 72''. You could contact the company and see if they can cut it down for you: http://www.chilewich.com/category/list/woven_floormats

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I agree the floors are beautiful, but I also want to protect them - I'm always getting water on them between the sink and the fridge and thought that a mat / carpet would help to protect them a bit.

One of my clients placed a dark brown, "cushy" rubber mat on the floor that you hardly notice. It protects the floor and it is comfortable.

I would do just what "scott design" said. just a cushy rubber mat--- other then that-- Leave alone...
