Home Office Advice Needed

last year

Hi All!

Would love to get an advice on a home office design for the room that is currently just a spare bedroom. The home is a Spanish hacienda type with Saltillo tiles throughout the main areas. Bedrooms have these v

ery loud engineered wood pecan flooring.

I would like to design the built ins in a way that would allow someone to put a queen size bed in case they don’t need the second office (we have an actual office room in another part of the house). So if the desk is a built in, it would need to be removable.

Option A - is to put a built in on the side of the wall A, and leave space for a T-style peninsula desk that could be removable in case someone in the future would want to put a bed in between the built-in shelving unit.

The shelves would need to encase the two silly looking square windows that are on that wall.

Option B, which is not my favorite as I’m worried it would make the future placement of the bed too off centered and odd, is to place a built in on wall B and place a free standing desk at the center of wall A.

I also want space for a standing desk, so I think option A would allow sufficient space for it, as the standing desk could go on wall B.

For the colors I think I would do darker green/grey tone. My cabinetry in the rest of the house is alder pine stained brown. And with Saltillo in other parts of the house, green tones would flow well (even though rooms are separate).

For the ceiling:

A. I am thinking about adding two corbels (placed lengthwise against the wall A where the built in would go).

B. Or, a cool looking wallpaper. However, the walls have this ugly popcorn finish and putting wallpaper may be more costly.

Thank you in advance for the advice!
