Please decorate me!

last year

Every now and then I like to ask the nice people on Houzz questions, sometimes dumb ones other times legit. So the last kiddo moved out and this is the blank (sort of) slate I have. For some reason I have felt my creativity lacking, so please feel free to suggest away! Lamp, overhead lighting, artwork, window treatments etc. Thanks for any help :)

I forgot to mention the room is painted in Pale Oak by BM. Bed spread is a light beige. Sorry for the dark photo.

I think the coverlet looks too big so I would pull the corner up underneath (so it justs sits on the floor) and pin it. I did it to 2 new coverlets recently, looks neater and is not a tripping hazard

WOW I wish when my offspring moved out they had left the "blank sleight" you have!! Decorating is such a personal endeavor. Hopefully your choices represent your likes, your history. I put up a favorite photo of the one who moved out with a collage of their high school life. Nothing large just a small homage of what was. Grand children, guests will want to see how your people lived in your home.

Right Arcy, I had to take apart a bunch of large Lego Star Wars kits when the last one moved out. I also have to store all the Lego for a few years until he moves to a house with space!

Oh, and find a new home for a full drum set, which he also wanted me to store. I drew the line at that request! I donated the drum set to a high school band program in a lower income area and they were so excited to have a good quality matching full set.

I think the first one celery shared really works well, and also reflects the size of the room.

Also, the second curtain suggestion from jck looks really good to me... simple but with a little sumpin sumpin...

I agree that the blues would be wonderful . What do you like?

Sorry for the late reply and thanks to everyone who sent their thoughts, ideas and photos of examples. I never thought of blues with Pale Oak, I love it. I also loved the overhead lamp ... gosh I loved it all. Thanks so much everyone and yes, the cover is too long and will be addressed!
