Is the room on an angle? I would center the sofa and the rug on the opening.

I'd put a bar where the table lamp is rather than the other wall.

You might just try making it a reading nook with a cozy chair, floor lamp, ottoman, some artwork, a side table, and even a tall plant. It might end up looking something like these images from some of our current designs:

@Lyn Nielson - yes, we have the carpet aligned with the outside wall. We tried it the other way and it looked awful. The space behind the sofa is tight and we couldn't really put a bar there.

@Darci Hether - thank you, but we need storage more than a reading nook, but it does look inviting.

I don't have the dimensions of that corner but with a navy bookcase (not deep) for storage and an apartment size armchair and ottoman with a round side table I think that would fit in the corner. If you need storage consider a sideboard behind the sofa instead of having a small cabinet against the wall. Get feather inserts for your accent pillows so that they don't lie flat.
