I like your husband's idea as well. There is also no reason why you can't move things around seasonally - Loveseat in sunroom in the summer and then back by the fireplace in the winter.

That hutch is beautiful! Please don't listen to anyone who says get rid of it, or any part of it. Make that hutch the focal point and coordinate everything with it's colors, or colors that look well with it. Floral or patterned chair cushion covers on the table chairs, and get rid of any furniture you don't need. I think the loveseat will be too large for that room. Your table can only be used as it is with 2 chairs. If it was placed in front of the hutch, I can see it would block your access to the coffeemaker, etc. The other two chairs need to be used or stored somewhere else. The covers on the wicker chairs would look nice in a solid color that matches the hutch.

Yes I know that unmatched coffee tables are better but the set I showed was on sale at a very reasonable price and came with the table and looks nice!

Lisedv, there are only two of us living here, but the nieces and nephews visit often. Most of the time, the room is only two people.

Everyone, I love, love, love all the creativity! It is often so hard to see your own space. Especially when it has evolved as it has. The idea now is to forget that this room started as a breakfast room and imagine how any family would furnish it in a home.

We are so getting there. By starting with getting rid of those former porch chairs!

Well! that was a busy day! Thank you all for your visions. We did move the hutch. I softly regret that it doesn’t command the room like it did, but it looks great and we use it for quite a bit of storage.

The table doesn’t block the sliding door. We are donating two of the green dining chairs. The seating area is my favorite part! It takes full advantage of the view and feels cozy in the corner. The chair could be smaller so I am on the hunt but this is what we already had. We still have to paint, move that wall lamp and properly hang the art. Once again, thank you. You all were right that there were way too many chairs!

Decided on this print. The two prints that were in here were not working with the more substantial furniture. We will raise it up a bit after we paint the walls. Also, the hanging lamp is getting donated. I bought a table lamp. Also, Hubby is going to make a table top to exactly fit between the loveseat and chair. It will be the same wood tone as the dining table and countertop.

You can see why we call it ”the sun room”. Jinwpg, reversing thenloveseat and chair doesn't fit right.

Look at MANY photos online and in magazines and books. See which ones "jump out at you". Decide after looking at lots of photos whether you want white painted furniture, natural wood, wrought iron, upholstered, or wicker and light colors or dark.

Look at photos, save the ones that jump out - even if it is 100, then narrow down to ten, then to one. Mostly you are looking for "general" look as you do this, then can kind of copy the look.

Curtains will soften the look of the room - lining should be heavy white cotton to minimize fade. Solid white with teal trim on sides and bottom would be nice and plain, but yet decorative.

I wish you were still open as an inn, cause I would be booking a stay asap! Charming home with a stunning view!

I would get rid of the loveseat and replace with chair that matches the one you have or get 2 new ones.

That's where I felt the hutch should be, when I began to read this thread.

I tend to look for flow and function and this room now has it.

AvairyA airy, they dont fit the other way. The loveseat fills the whole side wall, so there is no room for a side chair. I tried it angled but it didnt look as good. Admittedly, the chair is a tad bigger than it ”should” be be, but we are using what we already have.

Your room is perfect. Anyone who is commenting at this point has not read through the thread to realize what process you have worked through to achieve such a nice transition.

I would make one more tweak, because the loveseat not being centered really bothers me and I don't think anyone would willingly put themselves next to the window when the sill juts out.

So center the loveseat and slide the chair towards the opening from the living room; the chair can even move into the opening (you have 64”, a few inches won't matter) and angle the chair slightly towards the loveseat. The new small table may have to be traded in for something smaller.

The window sill doesn’t jut out into the actual seating space of the loveseat. The armrest is wider than the sill. I for one would actually pick that spot as my favored seat so I could stare out at the lovely view. Enjoy your room, @auntthelma!!!

Yes, I think @blubird's suggestion is worth a try. Perhaps only the corner table would need to be replaced with a narrower one.

Yes!!! Yes!! Yes!!! Opens up that area with the chair moved, and sofa doesn’t look so scrunched in!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!
You could toss a lovely throw over the chair too with a color from your art!

A mirror on the wall where the chair was would make a beautiful reflection of the view AND give depth.

A tall slender plant could go between the sofa and window. There are MANY to choose from online.

I love the attention everyone has given my little, awkward room! Honestly, if I hung a mirror in that room, it would likely cause car accidents reflecting sun into drivers’s eyes! The room faces direct east with no trees between the room and the sunrise which makes the sun either wonderful or brutal in the morning depending on time of year!
