Counter-depth refrigerator?

In 1999, when I built my house, we bought an Amana counter-depth refrigerator. Kitchen counters - 25 inches. Refrigerator box - 25 inches. No problem. We built the cabinets to fit, with a few inches to spare for the top dimension.

So this week we had a melt down in the freezer section, so I started looking at the internet for a new refrigerator, in case it can't be fixed. Amana NO LONGER MAKES a 25" deep unit. A quick search of Consumer Reports showed that the closest anyone comes is a 27" deep unit that has only 11 cubic feet of storage (my Amana is 20 cf)! Some built-ins, like SubZero, are 25" but way too tall and far too expensive. Am I going to have to rebuild my custom kitchen cabinets and move my island? What are others doing about this - I can't be the only one.

Help!
