I would add inside mount, top down/bottom up bamboo blinds for some added texture. These come in a variety of colors, a clean finish, easyily controlled.

We have light filtering roller shades. They are perfect for a bit of privacy, light blocking when super sunny and also for warmth in winter. When open you barely see them. Ours are white as our frames are white but you could do black.

Zebra Blinds could be an option.

The zebra blinds look awful when seen from outside and horizontal "bars" don't enhance any interior decor either. Some things should never have been invented!

Roman shades could work on the window above the sink and on the doors.

Yes, terrible962, such ridiculous hateful comments! Patricia asked for help only with choosing window coverings. You need to allow others to have their own preferences without attacking them. BTW, I agree with Lyn Nielson about the bamboo shades adding warmth, texture, and a natural element.

I like the idea of simple linen roman shades that was suggested, they will add some softness but not compete with other elements in the room

I have zebra blinds in 2 houses and love them. Most of my neighbors have them too, and we are on a walking trail and they look fine from the outside. However, I would not put them above a cooktop—I think the roller shades are the best choice.

What did you decide? This post is 5 mos old, and i liked several ideas. Just wanted to add two cents about any treatment that can billow inward with breeze while the stove is on. Natural fabrics, like linen while most beautiful might not be compatble for use near a stove. Given all that, i think the idea of small, garden pots in a longer clay container with the bamboo blind retracted most of the time valance- like, during hours you'l be cooking wiuld look great. That would allow you to treat other window with up from bottom and down from top bnoo if you like the look and even sneak on some light curtains if you find yourself wanting them.
