I'd be more concerned about getting a vanity that provides the storage I need rather than style. What will you store in the vanity? hot tools? linens? makeup?

Are you merely replacing the vanity, countertop? or refinishing the whole bathroom?

Any natural light? what is the flooring material? wall colors? SIze of the room? anything else in the room with the toilet, shower, bathtub? any other storage unit?

Do you prefer stained wood or a painted finish? Mirror and lights?

I think mid-toned woods (that you said you like) are a pretty durable choice. Light is in right now, but dark was before that. If you go down the middle you can avoid trends. You're correct about the fluted style, it is trendy. Some people might be tired of Shaker, but the kitchen in my previous house had a kitchen done in 1997 with Shaker cabinets, and people are still doing them. That style has been around a long time (way before 1997), so I think it's a good choice if you like transitional to traditional.

If you're having trouble finding a vanity that you like, visit local kitchen cabinet sellers. They sometimes also have vanities, or you can piece together some standard sized boxes to get what you want from their kitchen cabinet stock. If you post some pictures that show the bath people will be able to offer more specific advice. You didn't say whether this is a powder room or a full bath. If full and you're only replacing the vanity we need to know what it has to go with.

Thank you responding. I will get some pictures uploaded however, I’m not at the home right now. This is a full size guest bathroom with natural light. The bathroom is on smaller size and I’m looking to replace the vanity all together. I’m not renovating entire bathroom. The current vanity is builder grade and low. I actually like the picture of the vanity you posted. Would you happen to know where this was sourced from?

All my vanities were made by the local custom cabinet shop that did my custom kitchen cabinets. We designed each one to fit the space we had available.

I like to have vanities "floated" off the ground around 5". This one in the master bathroom is long, so there are support legs/panels at both ends. The shorter ones in the secondary bathrooms are wall mounted.
