Do you need that much shiplap? and why shiplap, you can buy a sheet of beadboard paneling and make a few cuts and your done, add a moulding, chair rail.

Looks tight with that table. once you add a cushion you won't be able to get your legs under the table.

How about just a chair rail of it with a cap on top, just high enough to protect the wall from people?

I don’t want to harsh your mellow, but having the banquette seat abut the bottom of a window is dangerous. Your husband should consider mounting a few thin wooden strips across the glass expanse, like the back of a picnic table, to keep people from banging against the glass.

To your questions:

1. If there is no shiplap elsewhere in the house you may want to reconsider using in one corner with a large window cut out.

2. The leaf pattern textiles may look different to you, but they are essentially the same. Use whichever you want. You don’t really want pillows at a banquette, you want a back cushion affixed to the wall at an angle that allows for comfortable seating. I recommend you stick with the same fabric you use for the seat cushion.

Use your other textiles for your chairs. I like Fabric 3.

It’s very pretty, but it has some of the same issues you have, a window at bottom height and pillows. At least this has 4-5 inches of drywall between the top of the cushion and the bottom of the window. By the time you get a seat cushion on your banquette you will have zero inches.

No one wants to eat with pillows. They are less expensive and easier to make than a back cushion, so if you like that look, go for it.

Staci it looks like you can get a thin cushion on there under your sill? But the table does look close lapped there for legs. Perhaps then a pillow in each corner. Are you planning on new window shade? Maybe a pretty mid hanging chandelier/light fixture? I’ll read back, you may have mentioned that already :). Not sure about the shiplap? Question was asked previously about the surrounding vibe in the space?

Ok you have the fixture, sorry about that! If you’re choosing fabrics for chairs and cushion you could go large pattern on cushion and same/different smaller scale pattern on chairs. Then you have a match but not exact.

If you kept your chair fabric in the beige (?) I personally wouldn’t go with what looks like a white in the cushions or pillows. Maybe a pattern with a beige background, and/visa versa.

It is hard to see, but we built the banquet so that a cushion and legs will fit under the table comfortably.
I want to keep the shade as my house is a coastal/tropical style and it matches my other rooms for continuity. I haven’t ruled out a cornice of some sort
The question on the shiplap is that we want to run it vertically, but aren’t sure how high to carry it. We do have shiplap on the formal dining and also living room. They are horizontal, but we want to run the nook vertically for something different. It will also match a decorative chest that we have.
So you would advise not mixing fabrics between the cushions and chairs?

Ok height on vertical? How high is the shiplap on the other areas? Can you get a picture further back including the other shiplap?

I’m thinking if you go vertical on a shiplap there then not the striped fabric?

Alice, the other walls are horizontal and they go all the way to the ceiling with shiplap. We don't want to go to the ceiling on this one. I think you have a point about the stripes with the shiplap.

Gizmo, we are thinking of taking your advice and are going to install those struts between the windows so that there will be no pressure on them if someone leans back. The tempered glass is not required by code here unless it is 24 inches from a door.

Although this is a bathroom photo, I am looking to do something similar to the nook, but just white and not sure how high to carry it upward.

Maybe three quarters up the window height then bc you’ll have the rail at top and don’t want that at the back of your heads. That’s my thoughts?

Board and Batten wood strips on the walls might be more interesting than shiplap positioned vertically.

You can also install board and batten strips and then raffia or a wallpaper above the picture molding.

Vertical shiplap is just painted paneling.

Staci I think the struts are smart at the windows, but can you get the windows to raise that way? They will but it might be difficult. Maybe you don’t raise the windows? Just thinking about that.

I think they will still work as the locks are at the midpoint of the window as well as the point where you lift them. We honestly have never opened them. Thanks!

Beverly, I do like how the board and batten looks, but we have already purchased the shiplap.

Buying the shiplap is costing you a lot more than you needed to spend.

Staci Taggart - I like cushion fabric #1 and pillow fabric #3 the best. It is hard to tell about your existing chair cushions. Maybe find a 2nd or 3rd patterned pillow that has both white and cream in it.

As you can see from my banquette, I went with pillows and they are very comfy!!! I mixed and matched fabrics. Everyone loves them! When we have more than 4 people sitting at the banquette we pull the table out slightly and add two more chairs to the table. The grandchildren fight over who gets to sit on the bench.

P.S. - Maybe take the shiplap up to the window sash cross bar.
