Large square cushions are the popular choice for 'coffee table' with sectional. You need to move it closer to the TV it's much too far away unless the photos are distorted. Great opportunity to get a sofa table behind and a lamp to read by.

Scroll up to @ Beverly, fill in all the info as she asked on your drawing, EVERY missing dimension. Note where every passage leads, take pictures of the existing space. Up load as Jpegs. That's how to get good advice.

Sectional are often hard to fit into a room. They don't give much in the way of flexibility. Would suggest you opt for a sofa with chair(s) instead. That should give you much more flexibility in coming up with a good layout.

Thank you for your feedback. I apologize for not including enough detail earlier. I’ve added more specific measurements (marked in red on the images) and attached a few pictures to give a better sense of the room.

This space will be used primarily as a family room where we can sit together from time to time and watch TV. It is not intended to function as both a dining room and living room—just a family/TV room.

I’m also having a hard time figuring out the best way to lay out the furniture since it’s such an open space. I was thinking of adding an electric fireplace with the TV above it to create an accent wall, but I’m open to suggestions on how to make the layout work best.

I also plan to change the flooring to oak.

The double doors lead out to the patio, which we use a lot in the summer.

The other door goes to the garage, which we use most of the time.

I’m not sure if a sectional is the best option for this space, but Crate & Barrel has a really good deal that ends today… decision, decision!

Before you even think about a flooring change? You should show an entire first floor plan.

This is a horrendous room for a family room and tv. viewing. Totally cut up with door, window, and passages.

Perhaps another room in the house is more suited for tv. Where is the kitchen? Your drawing shows ONLY the portions you feel usable....omits a stair leading to? Your garage and mud entry cuts right through.........Not a good design, not a good space for the purpose, as it now exists.

Yes, this is actually the last room I need to buy furniture for. Upstairs, I already have a living room, kitchen, and dining area—it’s an open floor plan up there—so this will complete the main spaces. I’ll upload a few pictures later so you can get a better idea of the room.

You have room for a small apt sized sofa and lounge chair along with an end table and coffee table.

The TV should be mounted where the piano is currently placed.

I'd swap the couch area and the 4 chairs grouping. You can walk between or around the chairs easy enough with your sliding doors and then the TV stand isn't positioned so odd compared to the couch. In this room, I'd hang the TV above the fireplace and have the L-shaped couch against the left wall and facing the fireplace.
